AMERICAN RIVER TREES
Support the Amer. River Parkway... Attend public meeting this Friday Feb. 28, 2025 at 9:00 am
Calling supporters of a BETTER WAY
for the Army Corps to handle American River erosion project “C3B”!
Can you offer an hour of your presence at a nearby public meeting in support of a less destructive, BETTER WAY for the Army Corps’ American River erosion project “C3B”?
No speaking required. Members of our team will present 3-minute comments, and you show your support by your presence when they speak! Our team will be asking the State co-sponsor of the Army Corps project “C3B” to host a workshop for REAL DIALOG on alternative methods to achieve “erosion protection” WITHOUT DESTROYING MORE MILES OF THE WILD AND SCENIC AMERICAN RIVER PARKWAY!
What: Your presence behind our speakers during the public comment period at the State’s Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB) February meeting.
When: This Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 at 9:00 AM. Public comments are heard near the very beginning.
Where: Sacramento Area Council of Governments office
1415 L Street, Room 300 (3rd Floor), Sacramento, CA 95814, 9:00 AM
How it helps:
Your presence (no speaking required!) shows your support for a BETTER WAY to protect the Parkway from “erosion concerns” than bulldozing 685 trees and using heavy equipment to fill the riverbanks with jagged rip-rap rock. At this meeting, the American River Trees (ART) team will be reiterating their ask of the Central Valley Board to host a workshop for the public and technical engineers to present BETTER WAYS to achieve PROTECTION WITHOUT DEVASTATION, and have 2-way dialog with the Army Corps and the Central Valley Board. The Board has the authority to VOTE on the Army Corps’ project proposal before it goes final later this year. The ART team will also be asking the Board to get answers NOW from the Corps on basic questions regarding whether/how they are changing their design in response to thousands of petition signatures and public comments, and to clearly identify which trees they will be removing vs. saving. Let’s show the Board that citizens CARE about the Parkway AND know that better designs for the proposed “C3B” Army Corps project are possible.

--About the Citizen Concerns with Army Corps project “C3B”:
American River Trees.org website: https://www.americanrivertrees.org/
The Army Corps project “C3B” is slated for miles of massive construction/destruction on the American River Parkway, extending along the river between Howe Ave., Watt Ave, Kadema, Estates Dr., College Glen, La Riviera, Rio Bravo, and Mayhew. (Examples are shown of the prior damage done to the Parkway near the SacState area from similar “erosion control” projects). Tree clearing is listed as “Fall 2025/Spring 2026” on the Army Corps website. Project decisions are coming soon.
